Rick from Spring Lake, NC grew up in a military family, meaning he’s lived in many different places, including Germany and Texas.
Regarding college, Rick is flexible. He doesn’t have a preferred school in mind, nor is he concerned with distance from home. In fact, Rick really misses living abroad, however, he does not want to go to college somewhere he previously lived.
As a result of the many years Rick spent in Texas, American football is extremely important to him. For his own happiness, he cannot attend a university without an American football club on campus with games for him to attend (in Europe, sports teams are often referred to as "clubs").
Rick’s overall goal is to be a sports psychologist with a clinical psychology background. He knows this will require him to obtain a doctorate in sport psychology. Given Rick’s history of constantly moving from place to place, a nonnegotiable regarding university selection is the ability to remain at the same university for the next six to seven years where he can complete his undergraduate, master’s, and doctorate degrees.

If you’re doing the math, six to seven years may not seem long enough to obtain all three degrees. Just a note, some degree programs overseas are shorter than programs in the US. In the UK specifically, undergraduate programs range from three to four years, master’s programs range from nine-months to one year, and doctorate programs can be completed in as little as two years, although many recommend three.
